Phoenix Update

On behalf of our members and in close collaboration with the other bargaining agents, the AJC has used virtually every available mechanism to put pressure on the Government and we continue to urge elected officials to do everything in their power to expedite a fix and ensure public servants have adequate access to resources.

The government has acknowledged our concerns and insists there are steps in place to resolve them as outlined in our FAQ's . To date, the community of bargaining agents, including the AJC, has convinced Treasury Board to establish a process that allows for the filing of a claim for certain expenses incurred because of the problems related to the Phoenix Pay system.  A working group of bargaining agent heads and Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) officials meet on a regular basis to get the latest updates, review priorities, and try to improve the process.

Acknowledging that finding information has been difficult to say the least and getting the correct information, an even bigger challenge, Treasury Board and Public Service and Procurement Canada have recently revamped the Pay for Public Service web site .

The new web site is user friendly and the navigation and organization of information has been improved, making it much easier to find the answers you need.

With more than half of public servants still experiencing some form of pay issue due to the Phoenix pay system, any improvement, no matter how small, is welcomed.

We will continue to use every available mechanism until every member's Phoenix-related issues has been resolved. Members are encouraged to continue to request Emergency Salary Advances or Claims for Expenses incurred as a result of the Phoenix Pay System.  For more information on this and other matters relating to Pay Centre matters, please refer to our FAQ.
