The AJC's situation is unique since our long-standing performance management regime is embedded in our collective agreement.
The Association of Justice Counsel (AJC) is no longer participating in
Treasury Board's (TB) performance management consultations.
Over the last few months, the AJC participated in at least five meetings with TB. On every occasion, our representative clearly shared the AJC's concerns surrounding this initiative, but to no avail.
We explained to TB that their performance management initiative is in conflict with and in violation of the AJC's collective agreement. We reminded TB that the AJC's situation is unique since our long-standing performance management regime is embedded in our collective agreement (
Appendices B and C).
In response to these concerns, the AJC was told in September that these issues were being reviewed with TB's legal services unit. To this day, our concerns remain unanswered.
Therefore, we cannot in good faith participate in this consultation. In
this letter, we told TB that the AJC would be happy to engage in consultations again when it is prepared to properly address our particular situation with respect to performance management.
