New Collective Agreement:

Payout Period for Salary Increases Shortened from July 10 to June 12

Your Association is pleased to report that we have successfully negotiated with Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) a shortened implementation period for the pay out of salary increases under the new Collective Agreement. The new payment date will be June 12, 2013 rather than July 10, 2013 - almost one month earlier than required by the Collective Agreement.

Subject to a few exceptions which apply to LAs who are either on maternity leave or other special leave, this means that:

  • LAs will be receiving their retroactive pay-related, economic and PREA adjustments by June 12, 2013.
  • LAs will also receive detailed calculations of their severance termination options by June 12, 2013.
  • LAs will continue to have until September 12, 2013, (6 months after the implementation of the deal as per article 22.06 (b) of the Agreement), to choose their severance payment option following their receipt and analysis of the detailed calculations referenced above.
LAs included in the list of exceptions will receive their adjustments and payments by July 10, 2013.

Renaming of the LA Group

TBS has also announced that, effective March 19, 2013, the Law (LA) Group was renamed the Law Practitioner (LP) Group. The PSLRB has been advised and the appropriate changes will be made to the new Collective Agreement. The change has no impact on your working conditions.
