The AJC elevates issue of damages for all Federal employees in Pay Grievance

OTTAWA - The AJC filed a Policy Grievance with the Public Service Labour Relations and Employment Board in response to non-payment of Performance Pay for the 2015-16 year and non-payment of the lockstep pay increments that were due on May 10, 2016.  This Grievance was referred to adjudication and was to be heard on the morning of March 27th, 2017. However, the parties have agreed to adjourn the hearings in order to discuss the issue of damages on a without prejudice basis at the Union Management Consultations Committee (UMCC).

The UMCC is the committee that was established following the formal adjournment of the mandamus application in order to discuss such matters as Phoenix, the new expense claims process and interest.  The AJC is represented on the UMCC.

This now means that in addition to interest, the UMCC will be discussing on a broader and more inclusive scale the issue of damages incurred by Federal employees.

The information many of you provided in the recent survey will go a long way to informing our UMCC discussions.  In the coming weeks, we will reach out to you with another survey in order to help capture cases falling outside the scope of the performance pay and lockstep increment-related policy grievances.

Should the UMCC fail to achieve satisfactory results, the Policy Grievances will be reactivated.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your local GC representative or the AJC at admin@ajc-ajj.com .  We will provide you with further updates as they become available.
