TB Authorizes Salary Adjustments for LCs

On June 21 2016, a letter of authority was signed by Treasury Board authorizing salary increases for employees in the Law Management (LC) Group, effective on April 1, 2016.

(See: Rates of pay and terminable allowance for the Law Management (LC) occupational group bulletin)

A terminable allowance will be paid to all employees in the LC-01, LC-02 and LC-03 positions during the period April 1st, 2015 to March 31, 2016 in order to account for the gaps in base salary as between the LC and LP groups so that LCs can actually earn more than their direct reports.

Furthermore, effective April 1st, 2016 future LC salary adjustments will be aligned with those provided for the Law Practitioner (LP) group.

In the event that you are considering a career advancement opportunity and require further information on LC compensation, kindly direct your inquiry to your compensation advisors.  LCs are not part of the AJC bargaining unit.

Please note that DOJ has indicated that the Public Service Pay Centre is responsible for the payment of pay increases such as these.  In order to issue payments, the new rates of pay will need to be programmed into the pay system.  This process may take some time to be completed.  Consequently, it is difficult to predict when retroactive payments will be processed.
