The AJC Welcomes the Release of Mental Health Joint Task Force Report

The AJC welcomes the release of the Mental Health Joint Task Force Report. We believe that this report is an important first step to improving mental health in the public service.

We are proud to have AJC representation on this Task Force. The AJC believes in the importance of implementing the National Standard on Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace.  Mental health in the public service has long been ignored as a health and safety issue.

The report provides recommendations on renewed leadership, engagement, and education on the issue of mental health. It also considers training and workplace practices, communication and promotion, and accountability.

We believe that in order to properly address mental health in the public service, we must encourage both employees and management to speak about mental health without stigma, judgement or fear of reprisal.

We look forward with anticipation to the implementation of the recommendations in the report.
