AJC-Treasury Board Bargaining Update #8

With the election writ expected to drop very shortly, we do not expect another bargaining session before the election

Dear AJC colleagues,

Here is the latest update on negotiations with Treasury Board (TB).

The AJC negotiation team met with TB on Tuesday, July 21st, at which time we provided further feedback on the short-term disability plan material that we received at our last bargaining session in June.

As TB had no new proposals or position to advance, we adjourned very early in the day.

As expected, this round of bargaining will be long and unpredictable.  With the election writ expected to drop very shortly, we do not expect another bargaining session before the election.

I remind you that through previous omnibus budget bills, the AJC has lost its right to arbitration.  Add to this the upcoming federal election and it is very difficult to predict where this round will be going.

Until we reach a new deal, the present AJC collective agreement applies. The terms of the AJC collective agreement cannot be modified during the bargaining process, subject of course to Bill C-59, which is being challenged.

AJC members can send any questions or comments to the negotiation team at lmackay@ajc-ajj.ca

Your AJC President,
Len MacKay
