”PROFESSIONALS SERVING CANADIANS” CAMPAIGN PRE-LAUNCH RALLY

Dear AJC Member:

With the 2012 Federal Budget looming, the AJC has joined a broad coalition called "Professionals Serving Canadians". The coalition brings together our members with federal public service doctors, engineers, scientists, foreign service officers, pilots, and accountants.

"Professionals Serving Canadians" has a simple but crucial message: cuts to the public service will not only harm the economy, but also undermine the well-being and safety of Canadians and their families.

The message of "Professionals Serving Canadians" is a call to action. Canadians believe profoundly in a strong public service and the need for independent democratic institutions; nowhere is this more true than with the administration of justice.

"Professionals Serving Canadians" cordially invites you to attend the pre-launch rally, which will be held at the Marriott Hotel in Ottawa on Tuesday, March 20. Space is limited, so if you are interested in attending, please rsvp as soon as possible at: http://www.pipsc.ca/portal/page/portal/website/base/psc/reg_person If you cannot attend the coalition pre-launch rally in person, there will also be webcast.

Further registration and event details are below.

We will look forward to your participation.

Strong participation will send a strong message!

"PROFESSIONALS SERVING CANADIANS" CAMPAIGN
PRE-LAUNCH RALLY
AJC Members in NCR Region who wish to Attend in Person

Date: Tuesday, March 20, 2012
Time: 6 to 8 p.m.
Location: Marriott Hotel, 100 Kent Street, Ottawa

Are you concerned about the federal government´s deficit reduction plan?
Are the members you assist in the workplace anxious about the future?
Are you worried about the impact of Conservative government cuts on families and communities?

We know you are. You´ve told us. Want to know what you can do about it?

Attend the pre-launch rally of the "Professionals Serving Canadians" campaign on March 20th. This event will bring together activists from all bargaining agents participating in the "Professionals Serving Canadians" coalition to get a sneak preview of the campaign and to learn more about the media strategy following the official launch of the campaign.

Representing more than 75,000 professionals in the Public Service, the coalition is comprised of ACFO, AJC, CAPE, CFPA, PAFSO and PIPSC. Our unions understand that the current government´s plans to reduce the deficit by slashing programs and operational expenses across government represent a serious danger to the job security and well-being of our members. Moreover, these cuts  threaten the well-being of Canadians, their families and communities, as well as institutions important to Canadian society as a whole.

Coalition members have been collaborating since September 2011 and we are now ready to launch the campaign to address this critical situation.

Please note that pre-registration to attend the event is mandatory. As space is limited, seating will be allotted on a "first come, first served" basis.  Attendance is on a voluntary basis and there will be no reimbursement of expenses.

Mandatory RSVP: http://www.pipsc.ca/portal/page/portal/website/base/psc/reg_person

In solidarity,

Milt Isaacs, ACFO
Marco Mendicino, AJC
Claude Poirier, CAPE
Dan Slunder, CFPA
