30 Lawyers, Including Articling Students, Are Now Members of the AJC's Bargaining Unit

These professionals will continue to provide legal services to the federal administrative tribunals

The AJC is pleased to extend a warm welcome 30 of its newest bargaining unit members who are effective November 3, 2014, employees of Treasury Board, working for the newly-created Administrative Tribunals Support Service of Canada (ATSSC).

These professionals will continue to provide legal services to the following federal administrative tribunals:

* Canada Agricultural Review Tribunal
* Canada Industrial Relations Board
* Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board
* Canadian Human Rights Tribunal
* Canadian International Trade Tribunal
* Competition Tribunal
* Public Servants Disclosure Protection Tribunal
* Specific Claims Tribunal
* Social Security Tribunal
* Transportation Appeal Tribunal

ATSSC lawyers servicing the Public Service Labour Relations and Employment Board ('PSLREB'), formerly the Public Service Labour Relations Board and the Public Service Staffing Tribunal, may be exempted from the AJC's bargaining unit if they 'provide any of the following services exclusively to the PSLREB: (i) mediation and dispute resolution services, (ii) legal services, (iii) advisory services related to the Board's exercise of its powers and performance of its duties and functions.'

The AJC will be engaging in discussions with the ATSSC in relation to this particular group in order to assess whether all or some of the LPs fit into this exemption.
