Done Deal!

This is the first negotiated deal between the AJC and Treasury Board. Our new LA Collective Agreement marks a defining moment in the history of the Association of Justice Counsel, and I'm proud to say that the deal recognizes the work you do as some of the most important in the public service.

We have learned many lessons from this accomplishment. We obviously found that some things take a lot of time. However, most importantly we learned that sticking to our collective resolve, maintaining unity, showing solidarity, and keeping a never-ending focus on the best interests of AJC members are the keys to success.

The results we have today are a testament to the dedication and strategic approach put forward by my predecessor Marco Mendicino and to the members of our negotiation team. I am proud to be part of the team that brought this round of bargaining to a successful completion.

While this deal is a step in the right direction, there is more work ahead. In the coming months, we will be asking you to help us prioritize the issues to be addressed in the next round of negotiations.

Over the coming days, the AJC will formally sign the agreement. Then, the employer will have a maximum of 120 days  to implement all provisions of the new Collective Agreement. The AJC will do everything in its power to shorten that time period.

If you have any questions, you may access our Collective Agreement FAQs, or if you have an inquiry about implementation, severance payout or other issues in your specific agency/department, contact your compensation advisor.
